Formal Affair

Last weekend, we went to Jason and Emma's wedding.  It was quite a lovely affair.  My primary objective as a mom---dress Benny to be an excessively handsome young lad.  The wedding and reception were outside.  Benny is accustomed to a climate controlled environment.  So, he didn't like the heat too well.  Before long, he was only wearing his shorts at the wedding.  No shirt, no shoes, no service.  Benny defied the odds.  He was quite popular and got quite a few individuals to dance with him, feed him sweet potatoes from the dinner, and to give him a few licks of the wedding cake frosting ;)   The things you can get away with if you are cute!

Nana and Papa came too.

Grampie and Grammy as well.

What a charmer!

Will you be my date and dance with me Mommy?

Down on the Farm

We did not go to Bob Evans.  We went to see Grandpa Stevie, Granny Lindy, Aron, Annie, Ella, Luke, Granny, and Grandpa.  Summer has went by too fast, and we hadn't seen them too much.  So, we planned for a fun day just to hang out.

Picking veggies in the garden...

Benny got too heavy for Lindy.

Cute pic with the sunflower.

Ooohhh....What is it?

Let me check it out here....  (Yes, one ripe pumpkin already!)

Grandpa Stevie hung a swing just for Benny from the barn rafters.  Ella and Luke happily pushed him all day long.

Ella and Luke also enjoyed sharing their cupcakes...

Pink frosting.  My favorite.  Practicing for my 1st birthday party.

Gator rides with Uncle Kevy.

Hello sheep!  Grandpa Stevie fed them a treat.  Corn stalks.

Hello chickens!

This is one of my new favorite pics of Benny.

Kevin's 66 Chevy Nova is stored in my parent's barn.

True fact.  Benny did not like being in the Nova.  He was crying  :(

Luke tried to cheer him up with a game of peek-a-boo.

Love this pic too.  My grandpa is very proud to wear his WWII Veteran hat.  My grandpa also ALWAYS can be found wearing a flannel shirt and bib overalls.  It does not matter at all what the weather conditions are like.  The only time in my entire life that I have seen him wear anything different is at weddings, when he has been in the hospital, and when he was in a nursing home for a while this past winter.

Camaro ZL1

THIS SHOWED UP IN MY DRIVEWAY LAST WEEKEND

Benny and me with the sweet car.

Benny says, "I'm going to take the car for a spin!"

Sadly, the car is not mine.  Here is our friend Adam.  Proud owner of this car.

I'm not going to lie.  I really, really did like this car.  (Don't tell my husband.)  Just something about fast, sleek cars.  Especially those painted black.  They are nice.  And, they make me feel like I'm WAY cooler than I really am.  {I could use all the help I can get to be cool.  I take care of our baby, play the organ, and direct a children's choir.  None of this classifies as being very cool.}  Yes, Adam let me drive the car.  If he wasn't in the car riding with me, I might have driven off and never came back.  I still love the BMW Z4 roadster the best, but this was a close 2nd.  Plus, it has a backseat for Benny!  :)

To thank Adam for the car driving experience.  I made chocolate fudge brownies with whipped peanut butter frosting.  There is just something about fast, sleek cars and chocolate/peanut butter desserts....

7 Months Old

OK.  So Benny is nearly 7.5 months old now....  I intended to blog this last week.  But, better late then never.

7 Months Old.  What can Benny do now???

1) Sit up like a pro.  During month 6 he was still kinda wobbly.  But, he has totally mastered the balancing act now.

2) Scooting.  He moves backwards by sliding by pushing with his arms.  He can make it all the way across a room.

3) He can now get into the crawling position.  He's up on both hands and knees.  So far no crawling.  He gets in this position and rocks.  Crawling warm-up!

4) He babbles more different sounds.  Starting to hear some 'd', 'b', and 'y' sounds rather than just vowel sounds.

He still continues to be a very good, handsome little guy!  When I say good, I mean GOOD.  I take him to church meetings with me now.  He happily plays through meetings as long as an hour and a half.  Sure hope this exceptional behavior continues!

Jessica!

Last week, my friend Jessica came to visit us from Cooperstown, NY.  It was a fun afternoon of lunch, catching up, and playing with Benny.  So nice to see good friends again!  (Jess was a faithful member of my bell choir at my previous church.)  Just might need to make a family vacation to Cooperstown to see her some day....

Pastor Uncle Godfather Eric lives in Minnesota.

That's right.  We drove all the way to Minnesota to ensure that this guy was properly ordained and installed as Pastor at Faith Lutheran.

We packed up in this sweet ride along with Uncle Chris, Aunt Angie, Faith, and Callie and drove, and drove, and drove, and drove..... (BTW, Benny did fabulous!  A 14 hour drive with no crabbiness.  My little boy is the best.)

Benny's view for the entire trip.  The van ceiling.

I'm ready to go!

These lovely ladies provided excellent entertainment all the way to Minnesota.

Once we got there, we had lots of fun!  At the Days Inn, there was a pool!

There was a big slide, and yes I went down it.

We got to see Eric and Katie's new abode.  Very nice.

There was lounging in the hotel room with Elmo.  Benny was into practicing his 'fishy lips.'

Uncle Chris was practicing his fishy lips too.

I enjoyed reading the newspaper with Grampy.

I was given excessive quantities of love.

Sometimes all the fun and love made me very, very tired.  Luckily Callie made me a 'pillow castle' to take a nap in.

Mommy and Daddy took a walk in the park nearby Katie and Eric's new church.  (BTW, Go Bucks!)

GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS.  THE ORDINATION

Their church.

The whole family.

Rev. and Mrs. Eric M.

Eric showing off his new pastor-gangster bling.  A new gold cross---a gift from the church.

Its official.  Eric is a pastor.

I'm so glad we made the trip.  It was great to be able to celebrate and cheer Eric and Katie on as they begin a new chapter of life.  I pray that God will richly bless their new ministry in Minnesota.
