Food!

So, at about 5.5 months, Benny started eating solids.  Here is a video of his first 'meal.'

Now this little guy is quite the eater.  His favorite (besides ice cream and milkshakes) is sweet potatoes.  Interesting, he seems to like his veggies more than fruit.  I thought it would be the opposite.  We'll see if this trend continues.

Don't disturb me while I eat my sweet potatoes.

Prunes are delicious!

Mr. Snuggles

Who, me?  (BTW, I didn't think the Bumbo seat was all that fabulous.  But, Benny has been loving it these days.  Plus, I can put him in it and know he'll be in the same spot when I return.  Doesn't happen often these days.  His wiggling skills are improving.)

Benny loves to snuggle.  Can't get him to fall asleep.  Just hug him and lay beside him for awhile and he's out.  Can't say I mind his passion for the cuddles.  I don't think Daddy does either.  This picture is evidence that Benny loves a good snuggle and nap.

Gabe and Justine

This past weekend Kevin and I got to attend and participate in this fabulous couple's wedding.  Gabe and Kevin were high school friends.  I played the piano for the ceremony and Kevin read a scripture reading.  It was a grand weekend!

Benny got to go to the rehearsal on Friday night.  He wore blue jeans for the first time ever.

Mommy went to the rehearsal too.

So did Daddy.  (Yes, I have pictures of BMWs in my living room.  Doesn't everyone?)

Us at the wedding reception.  Benny stayed home.  Thanks Chris and Angie for babysitting!

Us with the happy new couple!  Couldn't be happier for these two!

The bridal party.  Very pretty.

International Affairs

A few weeks ago, my dear high school friend Amanda and her mom came to visit Benny and I.  We were in marching band and the trumpet squad together.  Now Amanda lives in China and teaches high school math.  How cool is that?!  Amanda--let us know when you are back in the states again.  We'd love to see you again!

Swimming!

Last weekend, Kevin, Benny, and I went swimming on Sunday afternoon.  Benny's first time at the pool!

Got on my trunks...

Ready to go!

I'm not so sure about this mommy....

Well, let me check out the situation here...

Its wonderful!  I love swimming!  I even brought along a few bath toys to chew on.  What could be better?!

Working on my tan pool-side.

Benny's 1st 4th!

Nothing too terribly exciting to report for Benny's 1st 4th of July.  Daddy had to work.  Benny and I went over to Grammie and Grampie's house for a little while for lunch that day.  No fireworks this year.  That's past our bedtime!  But, there were good times with Katie, Eric, Faith, Callie, Chris, Angie, Grammie, Grampie, Nana, and Papa!

Happy Birthday!

Today is a big day!  Daddy turns 29 and Benny turns 1/2!  Last night we had a family celebration.  Grammie, Grampie, Nana, and Papa came over for dinner.  Also, Katie and Eric came in town too!  It was quite a grand celebration.

The best part of the party was the balloon!  Let me get it!

Make a wish...

Daddy blew out all the candles!  Hooray!

If you have any doubt about how fun the balloon was exactly, check out this video...

So, what is Benny up to at age 1/2?

1.  Giggling.  Everything is very delightful and fun when you are only 1/2. (See video above.)
2. Rolling.  He is getting better and better at it.  He is not always in the same place I left him anymore.  He can't sit up by himself yet, but he's getting a bit better at that too.
3. Playing.  He loves all of his toys and for you to interact with him.
4. Eating!  Oatmeal cereal is better than rice cereal.  Sweet potatoes are better than carrots.  Ice cream is the best of all.  He likes these things called Baby Mum Mums.  They are baby rice cakes.  Kind of taste like a communion wafer.  We got out his high chair so he could eat dinner with us last night.

What is Daddy up to at age 29?

1. Still dreaming about all the great cars and tools he needs. {He got a leaf blower for his birthday.  One of the things on the list of tools that he 'had' to have.}
2. Working too much.  (Last week he worked 85 hours!)
3. Lovin' Benny and me.

The Texans and New Yorkers!

Over the past two weeks we've had some visitors.  First, Steve and Cassandra came from Texas.  Lucky us, Cassandra is going to college nearby next year.  Benny and I have plans to go visit her often.  Also, if she ever needs a weekend away from campus---we will go get her!

Benny was prepared to greet Cassandra with his 'texas flag' outfit.

Benny says, "Why yes, I'm excited Cassandra is coming back in August.  What will we do first....?"

Uncle Bubba might look like he isn't that impressed with little Benny.  But, secretly he's got a soft spot for the little guy.  When we were at dinner at Nana and Papa's house, he had Benny laughing so hard!  Just remember Uncle Bubba, Benny, and a butter knife.  I wish we had a video of it.  It would have gone viral.  So funny!

Next Dave came from New York!  He has a snazzy little mini-cooper that he likes to take to the track.

The above visitors are always welcome back at our house!!!
